It’s time for my Studio Calico Roller Rink Reveal! I picked up the Amy Tan Today date stamp (love this thing!) and used a lot of grey cardstock and vellum, as well as Silver Mister Huey and Gold Mister Huey, these Amy Tan alphas and these Basic Grey Soleil alphas.  Oh, and main kit quantities were increased significantly so now is a great time to start your subscription!

Roller Rink Sneaks!

Popping in to share some super late Studio Calico sneaks from Roller Rink! This month was one of those where I didn’t think I’d like it, but ended up loving what I made with it. I love it when that happens.

I got the Couples Skate and Crack the Whip add-ons this month, but had some bits from the other two lying around so used those as well.

I used a a lot of grey and vellum this month, as well as my Cameo, silver and gold Mister Huey (my two new faves). There are a ton of fun new items that will be live in the shop tomorrow, so check that out. Also, a little birdie told me that quantities for the main kit increased a lot this month so this would be a great time to start a subscription or pick up an extra kit. Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow night at reveal!

Central High Sneaks and a Pop off the Page Giveaway!!

Hi guys! So first, my layering class at Studio Calico, Pop off the Page, is completely sold out. I think it sold out in like a week and a half – the response was awesome and I can’t wait to get started! I do have ONE seat to give away here on my blog. The winner will receive access to the full on-line class as well as receive the class kit! Please leave me a comment telling me what you would like to learn about layering and I’ll draw a winner Monday night and post the results with my Central High Reveal post.

On to the sneaks! This month I got add-on 1 and add-on 2 (the stamp in add-on 2 is one of my favorites EVER), but I had a few bits and pieces in my stash from add-on 3 and add-on 4 so you’ll see some of those as well. After seeing what some of the design team did with the new Card Kit I am kicking myself for not getting that too. I used a ton of Mister Huey this month in Gold, Silver, Pretty Pink, Boss Lady, Taxi, Opaque White, Mint Julep  and Water Cooler. Also used a lot of Zing – mostly Gold, Wave, and Blue Glitter. I also used the digital shop items a lot – can’t for you to see them! Don’t forget the new Divine Twine colors in the shop – I love Peach and Raspberry to go with this months kits! And, I’ve been a little slow to jump on the neon bandwagon, but I am SO ordering some of the Hero Arts Neon ink pads with my next kit – Pink and Yellow for sure!

Thanks for stopping by – don’t forget to leave me a comment to enter my class giveaway!

breann riggert. - was so excited about to see this class, but couldn’t swing it before it was too late to purchase it. love that you are giving away a spot for it. as far as layering goes…whenever i try to do it, it seems “forced” or “unnatural.” i want to learn how to make it just flow with the page. also, i seem to be stuck on just clustering a few items with glue dots or something on top of paper, so learning different styles of layering would be beneficial.

Jennifer - Hi Jen, love your sneaks. I really wish I would have signed up for your class…I guess when you snooze you lose. But, I would love a chance to win a spot. My layering abilities are pathetic, so I could really use some help. Thanks again for the chance.

Justasiam - I love the look of layering but really could use some help with how to make it look not lumpy and bumpy and awkward. I have a hard time knowing what is not enough and what is too much! I also need to learn to experiment a little more.

August 26, 2012 - 8:36 pm

Nina Chow - I would love to win a spot in the class – I have not been able to discover the art of layering as yet, and find my pages and mini albumns are one dimensional. Thanks for the chance to win.

August 26, 2012 - 9:33 pm

Hester - I would love to learn how to layer embellishments and to work with mist a little bit more. As i have the supplies, but don’t use them as i should. I always keep looking at how beautiful other mini albums are with lots of layers, but still look pretty. I also like to stamp and emboss on my projects.

August 27, 2012 - 9:26 am

Jennifer C - I truly suck at layering, I am to linear to make it look good, so I just need the push to even try it more often.

August 27, 2012 - 2:45 pm

Rockermorsan - I would love to learn how to make it look like you layered with a plan and didn’t just pile stuff on. How to make everything into a unit.

A few more sneaks!

My layering class at Studio Calico, Pop off the Page is almost sold out! I can’t believe how positive the reaction has been to this class, and I’m so grateful! I’m working really hard to come up with lots of class content that will hopefully help you learn some new techniques and show you different ways to layer, no matter what your style! I’m hoping to show you how to do it on your own, with your own supplies, and in your own way for a style that’s uniquely your own. We’ve got a whole lesson devoted to mini albums, a few cards, and an insane amount of inspiration.

In case you missed it, here’s a little more info:

Feeling a little flat? Join layering expert Jen Jockisch and learn how to layer your paper and embellishments to add detail, dimension and visual interest to any project. Jen has brought together an amazing group of contributors – Wilna Furstenburg, Kim Stewart, Rahel Menig, Christine Middlecamp, Stephanie Dagan, Kinsey Wilson, Keisha Campbell, Sophie Crespy, Sasha Farina, Danielle Flanders. Their styles vary from clean to detailed to artsy, but they all have one thing in common – they have a way with layers. By the end of these lessons, so will you.

This is a self paced class – there will be 4 PDFs containing 24 new projects, all available to you on September 1st. All students will receive an embellishment kit of layering essentials, including an exclusive stamp set. This kit will ship free to you, no matter where you are! The class also comes with exclusive downloads – a printable PDF and seven die cut files. In addition, you’ll have access to a private message board where you can ask Jen all of your layering questions! Here’s a look at what the PDFs will cover :

PDF 1 : Adding detail and dimension with paper layers, ephemera, mists and ink.
PDF 2 : Creating layers from stamps, punches, die cuts and dimensional paper techniques
PDF 3 :Layering in Mini Albums
PDF 4 : Layering tips and tricks from Jen

I’m really, really excited about this and have so many ideas and want to make sure I can cater to a wide range of styles and ability levels.

Again – the class is just about sold out so be sure to sign up today to reserve your spot! Hope to see you there!

(Sharing some recommended items that I used for my samples – none of these are necessary to take the class but I know some people like to have a supply list!)
