Studio Calico Roundabout reveal!

Better late than never, right?? It’s been completely crazy this month with my husband, myself and my kindergartener finishing out the school year. On top of that, I was smack dab in the middle of my Pop off the Page 2 class – thanks again to everyone who signed up!

But on to the reveal! This month, I got the main scrapbook kit, main card kit, main Project Life kit, (aren’t those new storage boxes the best? I’m such a sucker for cute packaging) Outer Banks (my fave!), Savannah Shore, Navy Pier and Coconut Grove. Had a lot of fun creating this month!

I just finished writing one of the PDF’s for the Pop off the Page classroom, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much the contributors to this class just killed it. After looking at all of their projects, I came away super inspired and ready to create. That’s the sign of a good class, I think.

I’ve been writing about lots of design theory – this class isn’t just about how to layer papers behind a photo. We’re going to talk about the how’s and why’s of scrapbook design; how to incorporate design principles and make them work for you so that you can create pages that are all your own. There will be step by step process photos and text as well as tons of tips and tricks. Celine is making a video, and I know it will be amazing because it’s Celine. I am making a video, and it may not be as amazing because it’s one of my first but that’s ok. There will be lots of discussion on the message boards with weekly challenge prompts and last time around everyone was so uplifting and inspiring. It was a really great class.

Class begins on May 1st, which means there are only a few more days to register. The class kit is still available, so when you register you will receive that in addition to access to all five PDF’s, exclusive printable files and cut files, 2 videos and a dedicated classroom message board. Don’t worry about registering late and not getting your kit in time for class; while the kit is an awesome little bonus that you’ll see used throughout the pages, you definitely don’t need it to take the class.

Planetarium Sneaks + Atlantic!

Hi everyone! Today I have some May Planetarium sneaks to share, as well as a page with the new Atlantic collection from Studio Calico, which just went live today!

This month, I got the main scrapbook kit, the main card kit, the main PL kit, Orion, Big Dipper, North Star and Halley’s Comet. It’s a lot – but they all go so well together I couldn’t resist any of them! (You can roll over any image to see a clearer view)

I’m so in love with this collection. The colors are so on-trend and all the little details just make it perfect. I cut all the little triangles/diamonds from the New Haven Paper and then layered a lot of little bits on top. The gold foil paper didn’t really photograph as well as I’d have liked – it is way more gold and shiny and pretty in real life. The anchor punch is super teensy – I am not really into the anchor trend but I think because they’re so small I may use it more than I thought. Here’s some more products I used:

Pop off the Page sneaks!

I’m getting so excited for this installment of Pop off the Page! It’s almost May 1st and projects are coming in from the AMAZING contributors. We have so much planned for this class – there will be videos from myself and Celine, 5 PDF’s packed with tons of new info – this is not just the first class re-done! There will be tons of new info and tons of new inspiration. We had a blast last time and the students had so much fun and the gallery was packed with great projects. We do still have some class kits available (kit pictured below), so be sure to reserve your seat in class before they’re gone! On to the sneaks!

Pop off the Page V. 2.0!!

I am so excited to finally let the cat out of the bag and tell you that I am teaching another Pop off the Page class at Studio Calico!

We had SO much fun last time, the class sold out in a matter of days and there’ve been a ton of requests for another class. We’re going to cover every aspect of layering; subtle layers, big, bold layers, mixed media layers, digital layers and more. The contributor list is INSANE and is filled with some of my favorite paper crafters. There is a class kit (pictured above), but supplies are limited so be sure to sign up early.

Here’s the class description:

Feeling a little flat? Join layering expert Jen Jockisch for this sequel to last year’s popular class and learn how to layer your paper and embellishments to add detail, dimension and visual interest to any project. We’ll be kicking off the class with a refresher PDF to discuss ideas shared in the first class, and will follow that up with four PDFs discussing even more concepts in layering. In the end, you’ll have access to 5 PDFs filled with 28 new projects, 2 videos (one from Jen and one from Celine) and oodles of Pop Off The Page tips and tricks.

Jen is joined by a talented group of contributors – they have a diverse range of styles, but they all know how to rock the layers. Becky Novacek, Celine Navarro, Dawn McVey, Debee Campos, Emily Branch, Jill Sprott, Kim Stewart, Lilith Eeckels, Lisa Spangler, Marcy Penner, Patricia Roebuck, Sasha Farina, Shanna Noel, Stephanie Bryan and Stephanie Dagan will each be sharing a project and their own personal layering tips.

While supplies last, students will receive an embellishment kit of layering essentials, including an exclusive stamp set. This kit will ship free to you, no matter where you are! Studio Calico Spencer’s Scrapbook Reveal!

I went way overboard this month and got everything. The Daily Grind add-on (my fave!), the Front Porch Blend add-on, the Latte add-on, the Americano add-on, the Today Noted stamp set (that is awesome!) and the PL main kit and main card kit. The awesome thing about all of these kits is how well they coordinate – they all work perfectly together, in my opinion. Some other items I used a lot this month are the pink neon ink pad, the orange neon ink pad, blue neon ink and green neon ink. I’m a little addicted. I also used the gold ink pad, Wow! in Sunflower, Powder, glitter and Key Lime as well as large white tags (a staple!) and the BG Hello journaling die-cuts and label stickers and Hey You stitched brads and chipboard shapes. Studio Calico Spencer’s Sneaks!

I loved this month’s kits so much. So much inspiration! I had a serious neon addiction this month and used the heck out of the Hero Arts Neon ink pads in the shop. I also just picked up a pack of these awesome watercolors – I would grab them ASAP because I doubt they’ll last through reveal. A few other items I think go really well with April’s kits – Gold Ink Pad, Key Lime Glitter, Sunflower Glitter, Neon Pink ink, Kraft Tags and Neon Yellow ink.
